Teaching online and becoming a BitDegree instructor is simple. You need but two things:
One, the passion to share your knowledge with others.
Two, the drive to reach your students with the various BitDegree tools.
The secret is - we all are experts, but few realize it. Expertise is nothing more but the accumulation of experience until it becomes knowledge and skill.
Look back on your experiences and find the thing you understand better than the average person. It can be a field as narrow as Instagram marketing or as broad and all-encompassing as business development. Find the particular niche in which you are an expert or at least one in the making.
Don’t pick any niche. We doubt there is much money to be made by teaching how to build sandcastles (you can always prove us wrong, though). Discover an overlooked market that is in need of experts. Or teach a popular topic, but with a twist. Teach computer science by using examples from a hit TV show. Use origami models in your business class. Find a unique angle when walking a well-trod path.
Here's a more detailed guide on how you choose the topic.
Superintelligence hides in every one of us. As Michio Kaku said, “The human brain has 100 billion neurons, each neuron connected to 10 thousand other neurons. Sitting on your shoulders, is the most complex object in the known universe.”
However, the human brain is underused or even neglected. We can understand and we can learn much more than we have ever imagined. We have an opportunity to help each other tap into this potential. It is the great responsibility to teach. And teaching online provides you with the opportunity to do it simply and easily.
Why would you let your brain just sit there collecting dust, when you can change the world with it?
Eliezer Yudkowsky is an AI researcher and a teacher in the art of human rationality, “If you live in an urban area, you probably don't need to walk very far to find a martial arts dojo. Why aren't there dojos that teach rationality?”
While Yudkowsky never attended college or even high-school, his work on intelligence explosion, friendly AI, decision theory and other fields has strongly influenced philosophers, computer scientists and other AI researchers. Yudkowsky co-founded Machine Intelligence Research Institute, where he continues his work on tackling the problem of friendly AI.
Eliezer Yudkowsky is the perfect example of how to use the potential of the human brain and that everyone not only can but should teach. Let that be your inspiration on the path of online teaching.
